South Street Free Church, Eastbourne, UK
Pastor: David Batchelor
South Street Free Church is a Bible-believing church situated 100 metres from Eastbourne’s Town Hall. We are a friendly group of people from all walks of life, who worship God, aware that we can only do so through Jesus Christ.
So what do we believe? Here’s a summary (it’s far from complete, as we seek to base it all on the Bible, which has a lot in it; even so, this should give a fair idea of what we believe): We believe that Jesus is God’s eternal Son, whom God sent to earth as a Man to save His people from their sin. We trust in the Bible’s assurance that Christ died for sinners, and that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. We also believe the Bible’s testimony that God raised Jesus’ body to life again on the third day after His death, and that Jesus is now enthroned at God’s right hand as Lord of heaven and earth. We praise God for the Good News, that whoever renounces their sin, and humbly turns to the Lord Jesus Christ and trusts in Him alone, is forgiven all their sin, becomes a dearly-loved child of God forever, and, at Christ’s return, will be saved from punishment and will “shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father” (Matthew 13:43).
In each of our services we study the Bible together, because the Bible is God’s fully trustworthy and authoritative word, and through the Bible we get to know the Lord Jesus, we grow in our understanding of God’s majestic plan of salvation, and we learn how we need to change in order to become like our great Saviour.
We’d love to welcome you to any of our services, and help point you the Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world. We look forward to meeting you!
Free on a Tuesday lunchtime?
Once a month, on the first Tuesday of each month, we run Big Questions in Little Chelsea. Basically, it's an opportunity for anyone who lives or works nearby to pop in and have a friendly, informal chat about the Big Questions of life over a ploughman's lunch (which is free). Whatever you believe or don't believe, you're warmly invited to come along! Pop in any time between 12-2pm, even if you can't stay long. We hope to see you there!
