South Street Free Church — Elders

David Batchelor (pastor) took up the role of assistant pastor at South Street in September 2009, having completed 4 years of full-time study at Oak Hill Theological College. In October 2010 he became the church's pastor. He is married to Elaine and they have 4 children (aged 12, 9, 6 and 3). He worked for nearly 11 years as a computer programmer. Elaine has a PhD in Chemistry.

Roger Cook and his wife Nicola are the UK representatives of the Dorothea Mission — an evangelical interdenominational faith mission ministering in six countries in Southern Africa. Prior to this, Roger worked for six years with Our Inheritance Bible Ministeries based in Polegate, and prior to that was an evangelist with the London City Mission. Both were converted in 1977 and have been here at South Street since 2007.

Ewart Helyar has spent his life in Christian ministry, including being Pastor here at South Street, and, immediately prior to that, being Pastor at Lindfield Free Church. He also worked for a number of years with the Railway Mission. His wife Ethelwyn went to be with the Lord in 2006. Though nearly 90 years of age, Ewart enjoys a weekly game of tennis.
